Dénes Huszty

Dénes Huszty (1927–1979) was a mechanical engineer and acoustician. In post-war Hungary he was one of the most significant professional leaders, researchers, authors, and internationally respected authorities in electroacoustics. He made lasting contributions to scientific research, technical development, manufacturing technology and production, telecommunications and studio technology, international and domestic standardization, and to the management and business strategy of electroacoustics. His three decades of productive work — linked to the ORION Radio and Electric Company, VIDEOTON's predecessor, the Electroacoustic Factory (BEAG), Hungarian Radio, the MTA Acoustics Research Laboratory, and the Bulgarian electroacoustics industry — ended in 1979.

His work laid the foundation for large-scale loudspeaker production at every manufacturer. In the early 1970s Hungary produced around 1.3 million loudspeakers a year, primarily as a result of his efforts. Nearly 100 patents in the field of sound transmission and related technologies testify to his engineering talent.
